REMEMBERENCE OF DEATH

The holy qur’an and the saying of prophet Muhammad, peace be upon Him, keep on reminding the muslim of death in order to establish in the muslim of death in the muslim a balance between the secular desires and the heavenly ambitions. Allah says in the holy qur’an : 

            Every soul shall have a taste of death, and We test you by evil and by good way of trial to Us must be return

He also say :

            Wherever you are, death will find you out, even if you are in towers built up strong and high

Islam instruct believer that death is not the end of life, that this life is just a stage of life, that there is another life after death, that death is a brige betwe

If a person doesn’t believe in the other life, he will be horrified by the idea of death. He will also be under a tremendous pressure of running after money and lusts, because he think that his life is his only and final chance. This pressure will depriveen two lives, and that death is a turningpoint and not terminal point, this means that muslim belivesthat his life is continous. This belief gives man a feeling of security. How can a person who belives that death is his end, feel secure ?

            Islam tell us to rest assured that we continue living even after death, though in a new way of living. This belief calms the individual. A muslim is not horrified by death, because he knows that death is a transitory stageand not the end of life. man of his internal harmony, security and balance.

It’s really, that muslim believes in the hereafter, in the other life. This make him self-satisfied and secure. He fell secure about the continuity of his life. He fell secure with regard to his continuity and Allah’s justice. This feeling will remove a way despair, hoplessness, and anxiety, and will make man more hopeful, more active, and self confident.

For this, what must we do to face the death ? our prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said :

“ work for your life as if you live forever, and for your second life as if you die tomorrow “

We have to consider that the death will really come to us at any time. The wise person gets ready for that day, when everyone will be held responsible for his deeds, wether good or bad. Get ready and be prepared. Be on the alert because nobody knows when he will die. This life is a test periode. We are under test in this short life. How we do on this test determind what kind of reward or punishment which we are going to have on the day of judgment.
